The 10-year-old Memory Master breaks the record for most PI.

Do you know what Pi is?

It is a super famous – and super long – number in mathematics.

We even have a day to celebrate it every year!

It's called Pi Day and happens on March 14th because the date (3.14) corresponds to the same as the first digits of PI. πŸ˜‰

But Pi Day is not just about numbers, but also about people who love mathematics to show what they can do!

This year, a 10-year-old Memory Master named Alberto Davila Aragon was astonished by breaking the world record for the Most of Pi's decimal places remembered in 1 minute.

He remembered 280 digits Pi, wow. 🀯

Alberto from Bristol, Great Britain, explained how it all started:

β€œIn March 2024, my school organized an exciting PI -digit competition with an astonishing price: the chance to cake our headmaster!

β€œTo win determined, I went home and undertook to memorize as many digits Pi as I could.

β€œI developed as the winner of the competition and memorized impressive 150 digits Pi. The moment finally arrived when I arrived our headmaster […]!

“It was an exciting experience, and I am grateful to our headmaster that I created such a funny and inspiring challenge that motivated me to test my memory skills.”

Would you cake your headmaster on your face if you have the opportunity? πŸ€ͺ

And this was just the beginning of Alberto's record trip …

After his first great success, he did not stop there. He continued to practice, learned more digits from Pi and became faster and faster.

It didn't take long for him to choose the world record!

For the great day of the experiment, his parents helped to do everything possible. They contacted:

  • Bristol University to find a mathematician πŸ§‘β€πŸ«
  • Local sports clubs to find official timekeepers ⏱️
  • A professional witness to ensure that everything was fair πŸ€“

“Then we wanted a legendary place for this recording, which was important to me.” Alberto told us.

“Of the [Clifton] Observatory is astonishing that it is surprising to look at the legendary suspension bridge – I cross this bridge every day at my school.

“I love school and I am also a great student – according to my teachers a bit talkative!”

For the experiment, Alberto was connected to the eyes connected, with a pipe used to mark both the start and the end of the timing.

“It was a very windy day in Bristol” he said “But since everything was confirmed, we continued the event.”

Alberto loves music and singing, so he used rhythms and patterns to help him remember all digits of PI and special breathing techniques to help him say the numbers faster without getting tired. πŸ˜ͺ

“[It] Was an exciting challenge, and I think everyone can try to break regardless of age [this record].

“Through this experience, I discovered the incredible advantages of sharpening memory skills.”

Alberto is very proud of his record title and would like to inspire others to realize their dreams:

β€œI hope my trip inspires others to face this challenge and to sharpen their memory skills.

“Who knows, with a little luck and a good -natured headmaster, you could even get the chance to cake someone in the face.”

Let's just hope that the headmaster enjoyed the cake! πŸ€ͺ
