The 17-year-old teenager who is charged with fatal shooting outside the Orangeburg shop

Orangeburg County, SC (WIS)-a 17-year-old teenager was charged outside of a business in connection with a man's fatal shootout, according to the Orangeburg Department of Public Safety.

Officials said that Melachi Johnson, 17, had been charged with a weapon during a violent crowd because of murder, possession of a pistol, and tried armed robbery. They added that Johnson was being brought to trial as an adult.

The shootout occurred on Friday, February 7th, outside the Dodges petrol station on the 1800 block of the Old Edisto Drive.

The victim of the shootout was identified as a 48-year-old George C. Caldwell from Bamberg by Sean Fogle, the forensic doctor of Orangeburg County.

According to an arrest warrant, Johnson approached the victim, showed a gun and reached in his pockets. According to reports, Caldwell Johnson pushed away before he was shot into the upper body.

Monitoring cameras recorded the incident and Johnson was identified by video evidence and testimonies.

Officials said the bond had not been granted before the magistrate Court. A series of bodies with a judge of the Circuit Court was planned for April 16 at 9 a.m.
