The 33-year-old man who was killed in the Southeast DC shooting

A shootout on Thursday in the southeast of DC called for the life of 33-year-old Darius Young, according to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).

It is the first murder of DC since February 24th.

On Thursday at 9:26 a.m., the officers went on a shop on the 5000 block of the Benning Road in Southeast DC to shoot.

Young was found inside with gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital where he died of his injuries.

Officers later found that the shootout took place outside on the 5000 block of H Street SE.

According to MPD, this is the first murder for the month of March.
