The annual parade to St. Patrick's Day begins in Hartford

Hartford, Conn. (Wfsb) – This weekend the celebrations celebrate the celebrations to celebrate Irish culture.

A big big one started this morning, and the 53rd annual parade of Greater Hartford St. Patrick's Day filled the streets with tens of thousands of people.

Everyone is Irish at Saint Patrick's Day.

The parade has been a tradition for 53 years.

“I've been to the parade since the parade,” said Anne-Marie Desrobert. “I actually came with my mother.”

Thousands of parademees attract their green and watch in astonishment.

“It's so exciting,” said Holly Mcintyre. “It's so much fun. I mean just to get dressed and then see all the marching bands and all the people who come. “

It is a way to celebrate the Irish heritage for residents of Connecticut whose blood runs green.

“Our family emigrated to Boston between Waterford and Cork County,” said John Whalen. “So we are the third generation. It emphasizes the fact that I am Irish that I am so proud of. “

Never lose sight of the importance of the holiday on Monday, an important thing that the organizers concentrate on for these celebrations.

“No matter whether it is Irish step dancers, Irish music, pipe bands,” added Eileen K. Moore. “We have a contingent of men here from the county of Wexford, the sister city of the city of Hartford. It is very important so that you can see all the work, do Hartford and the Community and our supporting partners to ensure that we can maintain our culture and bring it to younger generations. “
