The building collapses five alarm fire, 18 in Lynn driven out in Lynn

Lynn-a five-alarm fire loosened in Lynn on Friday evening, which caused the collapse of a building and left 18 people without home.

The fire, which started on Friday at 8:22 p.m., went from 60 Estes St. to 10 Chestnut Street. Six Lynn Fire Engines and three Lynn truck companies came to fight the flames.

According to the fire brigade of Lynn von Saugus, Salem, Peabody, Lynnfield, Melrose, Swampscott, Marlehead, Revere, Chelsea and Boston, the mutual adjutant. There were 60 employees on site, 35 of whom came from Lynn's department.

Motor Co. 5 Captain Kevin Downey was first on site and reported Rauch from a window, and a working fire was ordered at 8:26 p.m.

District manager Robert Mcintosh was the incident commander for the fire and arranged a fire in the second alarm at 8:31 p.m., who delivered more engines to try out the fire. Mcintosh would quickly call for a five-alarm fire at 8:47 p.m. because the neighborhood was evacuated.

Firefighters were dealing with 20 miles per hour of wind and burning power lines, which made fire even more difficult to fight.

Iglesia Evangelica Congregacional Church, which was built in 1938, also caught fire from the original building. Due to the structural damage to the building, the church would collapse when the firefighters could curb the flames.

Since 18 people were driven out, the Red Cross was notified, and the Salvation Army together with Atlantic Ems provided the firefighters Reha.

According to the fire brigade of Lynn, companies remained on site overnight to wet hotspots. A resident from the building where the fire started was transported to the evaluation. The fire is still being examined by the Lynn Fire Investigation Unit and Massachusett's State Police.

Mayor Jared C. Nicholson published an explanation: “Many thanks to the fire brigade of Lynn, all the mutual help, the Lynn Police Department and other first aiders for the incredible effort last night. I am sorry for the residents who have been displaced, as well as for the community of Iglesia Evangelicala Congregacional. Many thanks also to the Salvation Army, the Red Cross and MBTA for the support. Our team in the town hall will work with our partners to continue to support the affected residents. This was an extremely dangerous situation with very challenging conditions, and the bravery and know -how of our firefighters were amazing to protect everyone and ultimately contain the fire. “
