I am here on the Twin Pine Farm in Eaton County. I learn from Farmer Brett Roberts about a fatal situation on a farm and are called a grain emergency. The Charlotte Fire Department recently received a new device to help when this situation occurs.

The Charlotte fire brigade was given a state -of -the -art tool. A grain snail is called. I asked how it could help in an emergency.

“The system is to save someone who is enclosed in a grain container. If you can enter a grain, soybeans can collapse on you,” said Brett Roberts, President of the Eaton County Farm Bureau.

Brett Roberts, President of the Eaton County Farm Bureau, told me how serious such a situation can be.

“The income often leads to death,” said Brett Roberts, President of the Eaton County Farm Bureau.

So this tool can help save a life.

“Make sure that the person will not be devoured in grain and gives you the opportunity to get out of the grain,” said Brett Roberts, President of the Eaton County Farm Bureau.

The Caledonia Farmers Elevator donated the tool. In Charlotte's fire brigade, deputy chief Tyger Fullerton told me when the rescuers would use the tool.

“In this case, this is enclosed in a silo or grain container on a farm or a larger facility,” said Tyger Fullerton, deputy fire chief of Charlotte.

“Fortunately, we don't have to deal with many of them here, but we have the ability when it ever occurs,” said Tyger Fullerton, deputy fire chief of Charlotte.

But now there is an additional tool in my neighborhood in the case.

“The chances that they live from this bad situation are much larger,” said Brett Roberts, President of the Eaton County Farm Bureau.
