The Chinese hotpot giant Haidilao said that he would compensate for over 4,000 guests who had visited one of his branches in Shanghai after two guests were urinated in their hotpot broth.

A video that shows two men who urinate in the broth of their hotpot while dining in a private room in a Haidilao restaurant, began online at the end of the last month.

Haidilao said on Wednesday, the incident occurred on February 24, but only four days later it became aware of the problem and could not determine the time and the place at first.

It showed that the case resulted in a lack of training procedures, which meant that the staff did not immediately find the situation. The company confirmed the location in downtown Shanghai on March 6th.

“We fully understand that the burden that our customers are caused by this incident cannot be fully compensated for,” said the company in the explanation. “We are ready to do our best to take responsibility.”

The company did not say how much it would spend in compensation.

Haidilao reported the case of the police in Jianyang, Sichuan, where he has his headquarters and other places.

Since a police statement in Shanghai, the police have arrested two men, both 17 years old. Haidilao submitted an application for civil action against her on Monday, added the company's explanation.
