The Clarendon County fire brigade reacts to hundreds of hectares of grass and wooden fires

Clarendon County, SC (WIS) – firefighters reacted to around 600 hectares of grass and forest fires on Saturday, according to Clarendon County Fire Rescue.

In a Facebook post, the agency said that the fires had damage to cars, buildings and agricultural devices.

Clarendon County Fire Rescue confirmed that there are no active fires from Monday morning.

The fires in Clarendon County began on the same day when the South Carolina Forestry Commission had published a nationwide burning ban until further notice.

It is not permitted to burn outdoors until the burning ban is lifted.

The massive Carolina Forest Waldfrise in Horry County has sent fire assistants from all over the state to support them.

The evacuations from several districts were evacuated before the people were allowed to return home on Sunday, WIS 'sister station MBF reported.

“While the loss of property has so far been miraculous, please take the evacuation orders seriously and plan accordingly,” said Senator Luke Rankin.

A running fire in Pickens County also had the evacuations ordered on Saturday, while the crews on the Six Mile Mountain deleted a fire.

Officials said no houses were damaged, reported WiS 'sister station Whns.

Forest fires throughout the state prompted governor Henry McMaster to explain a state of emergency on Sunday.
