The Cle Elum City Council approves the exploration of the fusion of the fire brigade district

The Cle Elum City Council has agreed to examine a merger between fire brigade districts in the Upper Kittita district.

Officials from Cle Elum and Roslyn met earlier in February to discuss the possibility of bundle of resources.

Last Tuesday, Mayor Matthew Lundh suggested that the next step would determine a governance structure.

Council member Steven Harper expressed the support for consolidation and said: “I think if nothing else, everyone agrees that they agree that the consolidation of resources, whether we are consolidated as a RFA or department, or whatever, only to use more efficient resources to combine training courses.

However, the council member Ken Ratliff expressed some concerns and said: “We will probably go in this direction at some point, but I hesitate. It would bring in a new government and I think it should be part of one of the cities. “

While the discussions about the merger are continued, the future of fire services in the region remains uncertain.
