The Commissioners of Shelby Co. appoint Taylor Bachelor to replace criminal court billes Bill Anderson

Memphis, tenn. (WMC) – The representatives of Shelby County have just appointed a judge to replace the judge of the general seat, Bill Anderson.

Taylor Bachelor takes over the position. Bachelor is currently working for the public prosecutor's office at Shelby County.

“This community has cried for a while and hoped for a judiciary that reacts to the needs of the community. So I guarantee that I will be this person, ”she said.

The district commissioners met on Friday with more than a dozen candidates. Bachelor will take on the role until the 2026 election.

All candidates have legal backgrounds. The list contains former judges, current judicial commissioners and lawyers.

They confronted questions about the assignment of deposit, which Richter Anderson has greatly criticized in recent years.

Bachelor said she would follow the law in this new role.

“I don't compare myself to other members of the judiciary, but I plan to follow the law,” she said. “Our law has been clarified in the past few months and years. The deposit laws require that the security of the community is one of the first considerations, the judges make the liberation of approval, and I will follow the law. ”
