The crash of La Mesa leads to gas leak, power failure

La Mesa, California (Fox 5/Kusi)-The police evacuated a hotel in La Mesa on Tuesday morning after a solo vehicle crash led to a gas leaf and power failure in the area.

The crash was first reported at 6:12 a.m. in the 9500 block of the Murray Drive. According to the Heartland fire brigade, the driver of a vehicle fell against the gas line, a hydrant and a power stable after having lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons.

No injuries were reported in the first crash. An investigation by the La Mesa police department remains in the accident, but drugs and alcohol have already been excluded as factors.

Due to the crash, the power supply was eliminated as a precaution at more than 400 San Diego Gas & Electric customers in the region, while the crews are working to fix the gas leak. The guests who stay in a nearby Best Western Hotel were evacuated from a variety of caution.

A road closure was set up along the Murray Drive when the crews extinguish the gas leaks. Traffic is expected to be severely affected in the next few hours.

The Grossmont High School, which is located along the scene, was informed about the crash and the effects on the surrounding area, but at that time there were no changes to its schedule.

This is a developing story. Have a look after updates.
