Before the internal investigation, the Sheriff's office had declared that the investigators suspected that the MP treated evidence when he started to feel sick and then became passed out.

“The large-scale emergency reaction to deputy moral led to several media reports about his potential chemical exposure and led to real concerns of the community, which will ultimately lead to the Sheriff's office when he revealed that he was not a victim and his actions were intended,” wrote the deputy chief deputy Matt Petersen in the report.
