The Devils goalkeeper Jacob Markstrom saves 22 shots in the first game since the end of January

NHL: New Jersey Devils at Vegas Golden Knights

The goalkeeper of Las Vegas (AP) New Jersey Devils Jacob Markstrom, in his first game for more than five weeks, took the third period on Sunday evening before giving up two power play goals in a 2-0 defeat against the Vegas Golden Knights.

Markstrom had been excavated since January 22nd because of a tense knee. The injury cost him the chance of playing for his homeland ashaps in the 4 nations.

“Obviously, it felt good to play out there,” said Markstrom. “It's here for a few weeks and unfortunately we couldn't get away with two points.”

He achieved 22 parades in loss. His glove rescue of a Brett Howden back with 2:14 in the second period kept the game goalless.

“I thought he was excellent,” said coach Sheldon Keefe. “He looked like a guy who did not miss time, and so deserves him and the work he enabled. He was great.”

Markstrom was activated with the Golden Knights from an injured reserve before the Matchup. The colleagues Nico Daws were sent to the minors.

The 35-year-old market current is 21-10-5 this season with a percentage of 0.912 and an average of 2.19 goals.

“I feel like conditioning and strength, I feel strong enough to train in the gym for 5 1/2 weeks,” said Markstrom. “I played the game, I felt good, but I want the goals back and that's the name of the game.”
