The Elon Law employee at Elon Day first in the line of line | Today with Elon

In the past two years, Charlie Sherron has been the first employee of Elon Law to make a money gift as part of Elon Day, the annual day of the university to support Elon University.

With a grin on the face and 20 US dollars in hand, Sherron turned to Elon Law's development officer shortly after his morning arrival on the university campus in downtown Greensboro. His motivation was simple: “I'm in love with Elon!”

There were the students who greeted Elon Law's maintenance mechanics every day. There were the friendly colleagues and the common camaraderie of education and support for future lawyers.

There were also the advantages that he praised the university and events such as faculty/personnel rear flaps and day the staff appreciation. Sherron quickly describes the way employees are respected at Elon after working for a large state university and a very small private college.

“I want to give something back because Elon has done for myself,” said Sherron, who will retire this spring to monitor the electrical and HLK systems building, monitor the external maintenance and to steer furniture movements for events and special programs. “I was lucky. This position was so good for me. “

Sherron hopes that Elon Day will be another banner day for the university in 2025, especially the Elon Law, where a significant growth of the success of the bar test and the career internships led directly to donation campaigns last year.

In 2024, more than 25,000 US dollars were collected for Elon Law. The records were defined in the entire dollar and in the number of gifts at 134. Including Sherron, almost three dozen faculties and employees in Greensboro, gives gifts to support the legal faculty.

“Elon Law is a special place because of people like Charlie Sherron,” said deputy Dean Scott Leighty '09, who heads development efforts for Elon Law. “He greets me every year at Elon Day and is always ready to support his part to support our success.”

The gift to Elon Law at Elon Day complements Sherron's long -term commitment to access and success of the college.

He also gives monthly gifts to the deduction of salary sections to the Elon Academy, the intensive summer living program of the University of the Alamance County High School, which were selected for academic strengthening, management development, knowledge and culture, services and family participation.
