The fans were clarified by the Wells Fargo Arena after the fire alarm

The Wells Fargo Arena had to be evacuated on Monday during a basketball game in class 3-A State tournament between Estherville Lincoln Central and Cherokee.

The game was at halftime when the fire alarm went off around 7 p.m. Everyone was safely evacuated from the building. Some players made the next game in front of the building with only socks, but the temperatures were in the 1960s.

The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union says there as a problem with a faulty ventilation fan in a concession stand that set up the smoke and triggered the alarm. The fire brigade of the Moines loosened the smoke and everyone was allowed to go back in the arena. The game was resumed after the teams received 15 minutes to warm up.
