The firefighter's office, firefighters, smoke detectors after a high number of fire deaths

Collins, Miss. (WDAM) – So far, almost two dozen fire deaths were performed in Mississippi in 2025, and the office of the Firefighter of the Mississippi State Fireschalle did not have any functioning smoke detectors in at least 15 of these deaths.

The firefighter's office and the local firefighters say that their home should have smoke detectors.

You say you also have to have a plan to quickly get your family out of your house in the event of a fire.

You say that if you reset our watches for summer time this weekend, check your smoke detectors to ensure that you work properly.

“We tell people that this is a good time to check their smoke detectors, but also go through their exit plan in their home.”

One person should test the smoke detectors at least monthly, especially this time it is easy to remember that this time take for security if they fall back or jump forward.

In 2024 there were 72 deaths in residential areas in Mississippi, and the office of the state firefighter stated that there were no functioning smoke detectors in 44 of these deaths.

This office also says that if you need a smoke detector, but cannot afford it, call your local fire brigade.

It may be able to install alarms free of charge.
