The former Detroit Lions CB Darius Slay is published by Philadelphia Eagles

The Philadephia Eagles made a decision about the future of the experienced cornerback Darius Slay.

According to several reports, the defending Super Bowl champions plan to publish the former six-time Pro-Bowler and end his stay in Philadelphia.

If the 34-year-old is shown after June 1st, the Eagles would save $ 4.3 million against the upper limit.

After winning Super Bowl Lix against the Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia has some of his own free agents on the defensive side of football who will look for lucrative extensions.

Josh Sweat, Zack Baun and Milton Williams probably made it difficult for Eagles General Manager Howie Roseman to hold the talented defensive back on the roster as part of his current agreement.

Slay recently appeared in the St. Brown Bros. podcast and stated that he would return to the Eagles or Detroit, the organization in which he began his career.

While he admitted that he was not sure about his future in Philadelphia, the veteran expressed that he wanted to play another NFL season.

“I still have one in my contract, but they know how it works,” said Slay. “Whatever you want to do, hopefully I could sign again. If I don't, we will see what I do because I would certainly like to play for another year.”

Detroit has questions in the secondary level, since Carlton Davis is a free agent and is behind him with inexperienced players. Terrion Arnold and Ennis Rakestraw will enter their second NFL season in 2025.

While a reunion would probably be inexpensive, Detroit should focus on bringing Davis back and devoting himself to developing players on the squad.

Slay admitted during the podcast that he temporarily noticed a decline in speed.

While the fans are nostalgic and the signing would not have much risk, the best interest in the team is to improve the secondary level elsewhere.
