The former La Fire Chief loses the appeal to regain her job for destructive forest fires Los Angeles

The former fire brigade manager in Los Angeles, Kristin Crowley, was unable to regain her job on Tuesday after being replaced by Mayor Karen Bass after the most destructive forest fires in the history of the city.

On Tuesday, Crowley made her case at the city council in LA, why she believes that her release was unjustified, for whom the Council voted 13-2 to reject the proposal and decision of bass.

Bass released Crowley on February 21 and said it was in the best interest of public security. She claimed that Crowley had sent 1,000 firefighters home who could have been on duty when the fires started and refused to have created a report required for the investigation after action.

Crowley refused the allegations to lean on a report after the effect, to send firefighters home and not to inform the mayor's office about an upcoming weather event.

“Let me clarify the record,” said Crowley during your appeal. “I did not send 1,000 firefighters home who would have belonged in firefighting engines and fought fire against the Palisades, nor did I no longer leave 40 available fire engines.”

“The 40 fire engines in question were already occupied and led 911 calls with a non-serving staff in their normal configuration,” she added.

Crowley said that the LAFD took part in all its standard communications, including the e -mail to two separate media advice, implementation of several live and recorded media interviews about the predicted extreme risk of weather and fire and the notification of the city's officials about the upcoming weather events.

The Council supported Bass on Tuesday after criticism of the day the fires began as part of a presidential delegation in Africa, although the weather reports had warned of dangerous fire conditions in the days before they left.

Before the vote, the Council heard mixed opinions from residents, activists and city workers. Some supported bass, while others urged to put crowley back on. Union firefighters were among their strongest supporters and argued that she was sinful because she approved more employees and financing.

The Palisades Fire broke out on January 7th, in the middle of strong winds, damage or destroyed almost 8,000 structures and killed at least 12 people in Los Angeles. On the same day, another wind -driven fire in Altadena killed at least 17 people and damaged or destroyed more than 10,000 buildings.
