The GroVetown High School is hiring new football coaches

Grovetown, Ga. (WRDW/dares) -The mayo -ära begins for GroVetown's football.

The Warriors have commissioned coach Dedrick Mayo, who comes from Kansas to Columbia County. Mayo has extensive experience in the rust.

In the past two years he has been head coach at the Highlands Community College. Mayo Coaching in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and included an overall record of 11-11.

Before moving to Kansas, Mayo was the offensive coordinator for Camden County in Kingsland, GA. The wildcats took part in the 6A region 1 of the GHSA last season. The Warriors play in the same classification, region 4.

Grovetown's sports director Wes said Mayo selected the CSRA to be closer to his daughter. It was also a dream for Mayo to be head coach in Peach State because it has a reputation to develop great football players.

Mayo comes from Florida, where he started his first stay as head coach. He trained at the Atlantic High School in Port Orange, where he received conference coaches of the year and the Daytona Beach Beach News journal coach of the year.

Grovetown's former coach was Cory Evans, who was promoted by the defensive coordinator in 2021.
