The Health Ministry of ECTOR COUNTY offers updates to measles and tips

On Tuesday morning, the district's Ministry of Health sent three tests to the laboratory to check measles.

ECTOR COUNTY, TEXAS – The Texas Department of Health and Human Services reported on Tuesday that two measles cases were reported in ECTOR COUNTY.

One of the cases includes a child who is too young to be vaccinated. As far as the new case is concerned, we have no details yet.

Newswest 9 took on the meeting of the County Commissioner 'Courts' Court and one of the topics on the agenda were measles cases.

The district's Ministry of Health announced Newswest on Tuesday morning that they sent three tests to the laboratory to look for measles.

The Ministry of Health reports the greatest concern in ECTOR COUNTY, who are in infants for 12 months and under which no vaccine can get.

Here are some tips if your child has symptoms of measles.

“Do not bring them to the doctor's office or the emergency room, because there we receive exposure and there other small children will be exposed to these pediatric clinics in these hospitals when they are in waiting rooms,” said Brandy Garcia, the director of the Ministry of Health County . “We highly recommend that you call, call your doctor, let him know what signs and symptoms you have, how long he had these signs and symptoms, and if you know that you were exposed to someone who is confirmed or someone If you are sick, these are important information that you can share with your pediatrician.

Measles are very contagious and spreads through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

“It can sit in the air for up to two hours after the infected person has gone. They can still be uncovered for up to two hours,” said Garcia. “It can also live on hard surfaces, i.e. door knobs and the like.”

Save test samples is also a problem.

As soon as the samples are collected, they must be sent to the State Lab. They are only viable for a certain time.

The Ministry of Health of ECTOR COUNTY announced Newswest 9 that this was a problem at the weekend.

Last weekend the Midland Memorial Hospital had to help them because it had no freezer to keep them.

Garcia said the tests have to be stored in freezer cupboards with -70 degrees Celsius and the hospital of the Medical Center is the only hospital in the county with this type of freezer.
