The increase in installments for Tececo and Duke customers in Florida begins

Tececo and Duke Electric said that customers will see an increase of around $ 20 per month from this month.

St. Petersburg, Florida – Teco and Duke Electric said that customers will receive an increase of around $ 20 per month from this month.

Both companies said Florida's two consecutive hurricanes caused widespread failures for millions of customers. They increase prices to cover the costs for repairs.

“Our company basically had to use 27,000 resources. These are things such as linemen, vegetation management and employees to support the restoration efforts to stage the lights for our customers again, ”said Ana Gibbs from Duke Energy Florida.

But customers like Calista Snider said that this was not their responsibility.

“There is damage to my property and my home that I could not yet afford to repair it. Therefore, it is very annoying that Teco repairs her real estate and her equipment is very annoying,” said Snider.

Other companies also want to increase interest rates. Florida Power & Light demands more than one billion dollars over four years.

“The biggest application for supply rate in the history of the United States,” said Brooke Ward.

People like Walter Smith II have been identified against fossil fuels for years and say that the rates will continue to increase and that people will suffer from energy loads.

“You could live in areas with low income, you could be in public living space and it is difficult for you to pay electricity bills,” said Smith.

Smith believes that this will force customers to make difficult decisions.

“You had to decide if you buy medication that you keep alive and pay a provision of provision,” said Smith.

Duke and Teco said these increases were temporary. Teco's will be available for 18 months, while Duke customers will see this for a year.

Tips for energy saving

According to Duke Energy, customers can save energy and high invoices in different ways, including:

  • Reduction of the thermostat to the lowest, comfortable setting. The smaller the difference between the temperature within your house and outwards, the lower your energy consumption and the greater the savings.
  • Change your air filter and planning regular maintenance for your heating systems. Maintaining your heating systems can help increase efficiency.
  • Set your water from 120 degrees. This is usually the second largest user of energy in your home.
  • Luminaires, sealing and weathersstrip air leaks in windows, doors and ventilation slots, to save 10% to 20% in heating and cooling costs.
  • Replacing standard light bulbs with LEDs that are more efficient than normal light bulbs and at the same time release the same amount of light.
    • The replacement of only six of their most frequently used onions by LEDs can save up to 480 US dollars during the service life of the lamps.
