The increasing popularity of AI to create more data in 3 years than ever before

The growing popularity of artificial intelligence (AI) is expected to lead to more data will be created in the next three years than ever.

Countries such as the USA and China, with the large amounts of data they collect, gain dynamics to dominate global technology, in particular with the influence of tech giants such as Amazon, Google and Meta in the USA as well as tencent and bytedance in China.

The amount of data generated grows due to the rapid technology developments according to the age of data, a “visual essay on data development” of the Singaporian company Hinrich Foundation.

The report states that in 2010 two data of data with the rise of the social media platforms were created. A Zettabyte corresponds to a trillion gigabyte.

This number doubled more than five Zettabytes in 2011.

In 2022, when Chatgpt was made available to the public and received over 1 million users in the first week, the amount of data reached 101 Zettabyte 50 times more than the number of 2010.

The report estimates that around 552 zettytes of data will be generated in 2024, 2025 and 2026. It is expected that data centers are consuming half of the daily water issue in New York.

With increasing data creation, the water consumption, which is required to cool down data centers and whose operation is supplied with electricity, also increases.

It is expected to consume 1.7 million liters (450 million gallons) water – enough to satisfy half of the water requirements in New York by 2030 – and at the same time consume more electricity than Germany.

In 2022 data centers and AI operations used 460 terawatt hours of electricity, a number that will increase by 74% to 800 terawatt hours by 2026. Germany consumes 507 terawatt hours of electricity per year.

Ibrahim Geylan, engineer of the data center in the information and communication technologies – authority of Türkiye, said Anadolu that data centers were the archive storage of the new digital era.

“The devices of the data center consumes electricity and creates a high heat. In order to eliminate the heat, the space must be air -conditioned, ”he said. “For example, a data center with a load of 500 kilowatt hours generates 500 kilowatt hours of heat, which requires 500 kilowatt cooling capacity.”

Geylan explained that such facilities with a high capacity use air conditioning systems to fulfill their needs and water, what is to be met with considerable cooling. However, he noted that these data centers need water for drinking quality to prevent damage to the cooling devices.

“Now global data center brands want to make access to the water easier and offer their cooling systems maximum advantages by constructing their facilities through seas and rivers,” he added.
