The longest day collects money for Alzheimer's research, education

Sioux Falls, SD (Dakota News Now) – Members of the Coffee Club in Sioux Falls meet every Thursday and this week their Meetup benefited from Alzheimer's Association.

Dakota News now spoke to the coffee club member Annie Welsh and the member of the Board of Director of South Dakota Alzheimer's Association Dan Heinemann to learn more.

“It is to raise awareness of being in the community, maybe collect a little money to help with our mission and our cause. First of all, however, it is only a matter of raising awareness among people how widespread and how devastating this disease is, ”said Heinemann.

“People don't understand how often Alzheimer's and other brain diseases that deal with dementia are. It is far more common than people understand and to be in such a way that it is open conversations and that there are amazing resources out there, ”said Welsh.

You can read the stories of the coffee club members and donate to the fundraising campaign of the Alzheimer Association.
