Watches are more than these parts that give time. Sometimes wearing a watch can be on your arm like the swings of Daniel Arsham or even a Bugatti car. In other cases, a clock could actually be record -breaking wrist work.
In short, the watch world is somehow crazy. Or in Mad Editions' case, the brand watches are pretty crazy. The Swiss watch manufacturer, which runs as an expansion of MB&F and cooks the craziest watch concepts, keeps the “madness” in its designs, but at a more accessible level.
For example, take Mad 2. Mad 1 was basically a fidgety spinner in watch shape, while the MAD sequel has like a personal DJ console on your arm. Literally.
The MAD 2 offers two increased under-dials that resemble turntables and contain hours and minutes. The watch also contains a central dial with grooves that nods into the textures of vinyl data sets.
Inside, the MAD 2 presents the same engine as MAD 1: A La Joux-Pret G101 movement, which is updated with a custom jumping hour module created by the MB & F squad.
In contrast to part one, MAD 2 was designed by Eric Giroud, which has been created for 20 years MB & F watches. But the latest is all he.
The MAD 2 is inspired by the 90s Club culture, especially Lausanne's legendary clubs in which Giroud regularly cut off. The Mad 2 even calls back to one of Giroud's first watch designs, which never saw the light of the day. With the new Mad Editions Watch, it is as if Giroud's OG design is finally being brought to life.
The Mad 2 Watch, trapped in stainless steel, receives in two colors: Orange for MB & FS “Tribe & Friends” and Green for the Public Raffle. The raffle starts on April 1st (no joke) and closes on April 17th.
