The man was found guilty in the Rennstrac shooting in 2024, says the district prosecutor of Douglas County

Atlanta, GA. (Atlanta News First) – A jury found a man to guilty last year for several crimes related to a shootout on a Douglas County racing stream, the district prosecutor said.

On Thursday, Tevin Burgess was sentenced to a firearm of the first degree for serious physical injury, a heavy battery, a firearm during the commission of crime and criminal damage.

He will be convicted on March 13th.

On March 23, 2024, the law enforcement authorities were called to the Rennstrak in the Thornton Road and found a man who had been shot three times. The victim said, Burgess, a friend from childhood, shot him unprovised.

Surveillance material showed that the victim approached Burges' vehicle and spoke to him. When the man went away, Burgess shot him on him, according to the public prosecutor.

Stray balls shattered the window of a nearby car that held a woman and her two children. None of the viewers were injured.

The law enforcement authorities found Burgess' car through a camera system with reading license plates and arrested him.

“This ruthless attack on innocent victims in our community is not tolerated,” said Dalia Racine, District Prosecutor of Douglas, in a statement. “We welcome the jury to quickly blame this defendant for his actions that damage so many.”
