The Ministry of Justice starts investigations into anti -Semitism allegations at the University of California Campus

Los Angeles – The Ministry of Justice has initiated an investigation to determine whether the University of California has approved anti -Semitism on its campus.

According to a statement published on Wednesday, the Federal Task Force announced to combat anti -Semitism that it opened a civil pattern or an investigation by the UC after the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

The agency said the investigation would concentrate on “an outbreak of anti -Semitic incidents”, which took place during the protests after the attack on Israel led by Hamas.

It will also assess whether UC “has a pattern or a practice of discrimination based on breed, religion and national origin against its professors, employees and other employees by an anti -Semitic enemy work environment on his campus,” said the doj.

“This Ministry of Justice will always defend Jewish Americans, protect civil rights and use our resources to eliminate institutional anti -Semitism at the universities of our nation,” said Attorney General Pamela Bondi.

The announcement of the doj comes a day after President Donald Trump said on social media that federal financing is stopped for a school or a college that allows “illegal protests”.

“Agitators are detained/or permanently sent back to the country from which they came,” published on Tuesday on social media and added that American students are excluded.

Title VII of the Civil Rights Act prohibits discrimination due to breed, color, national origin, sex and religion.

According to title VII, the Ministry of Justice has authorized to investigate employers of the state and local government, which has reason to assume that there is a “pattern or practice” of discrimination on the basis of the employment relationship, the DoJ said.

For state and local governments and related companies such as public universities, the Doj shares the enforcement authority in accordance with title VII with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).

The EEOC receives, examines and reconciled EEOC plants against employers of the state and local government before referring to the Civil Rights Department of the Ministry of Justice for potential legal disputes.
