The miracle in Toronto and the ongoing studies

As a lawyer who worked on legal disputes in the field of aviation, including the representation of families who were affected by the U.S.ir Flight 427 accident outside of Pittsburgh in 1994, I saw the devastation that follows an airplane crash. When the news broke that the Delta Connection Flight 4819 had crashed at Toronto Pearson International Airport on February 17, my immediate thought of the passengers, the crew and their families.

The fact that all 80 people on board survived this terrible event is nothing less than a miracle. In aviation history, it is rare for a commercial aircraft to tip over after landing and do not lead to a significant loss of life. But when the dust settles, the difficult work begins to determine what went wrong. This will not be a short process-it will be a month-long, even years of examination of every possible factor that contributed to the crash.
