The newly published registration reveals the 40 million dollar -settlement of Newsmax with Smartmatic

After the re -election of Donald Trump in 2020, a variety of right -wing extremist media that had inspired the unfounded conspiracy theories of the Republican over the result and widened the confusion of conservative voters. As part of the wider partisan thrust, some of these branches also aimed to vote for voting companies and wrongly claimed that they were part of a shameful election cheman.

The fact that these claims were not true did not fit well with the companies – or their lawyers. As NBC News reported, the legal failure from this chaos still unfolds.

Newsmax agreed to pay $ 40 million in SmartMatic in the past year after the loss of election technology against the jurisprudence of the legal development company, as can be seen from a new supervisory application. The agreement reached in September included a cash payment and an option to buy shares in Newsmax, the media company announced in its submission. According to Newsmax, payments of a total of 20 million US dollars have already been made, with the rest of which came before July.

If the developments even sound known, this is because there were a variety of related cases. It was only last year when, for example, a right -wing extremist network called One America News also included a related defamation lawsuit with SmartMatic, although the conditions of the agreement have never been disclosed.

Of course, there are also Dominion Voting Systems that were exposed to a settlement of 787.5 million US dollars with the help of falseness using Fox News' parent company in 2023.

In addition, we do not forget that a big case that has not yet been solved: a year ago, a New York judge decided that a defamation claim submitted by Smartmatic against Fox could continue $ 2.7 billion, and in January a state court of appeal came to the same conclusion.

Time will show what will become of this case – another settlement remains a clear possibility – but if the legal process progresses, it is worthwhile that SmartMatic's lawsuit is a real danger for FOX. Washington Post published an analysis some time ago that contributed to summarizing the importance of the dispute.

Many of the accusations against smartmatic were similar to those against the rule, and Smartmatic was often summarized with rule in the same claim. This included the false claims that Dominion machines used the smartmatic software to equip the choice. They included the claim that SmartMatic was previously used for elections and that his alleged foreign bonds showed this. The SmartMatic software was also extremely faulty and even deliberately chopable. In fact, SmartMatic was often cast as the actual direction for the theft of the election.

Fox has denied any misconduct. Take a look at this room.
