Two officers from the Barstow Police Department were legally justified three years ago at the fatal shootout of an armed man.

Victor Richard Carevic's shootout, 42, took place on August 15, 2021 in the area of ​​the Monterey Avenue and the Armory Road, according to the public prosecutor of the San Bernardino district.

The repetition criminal had traveled with his girlfriend in a stolen car from Arizona when they had more petrol in a residential area in Barstow, the agency said in a report on the past week. A subsequent encounter with the police led him to swing a pistol against civil servants before they shot and killed him, according to the prosecutors and video recordings of the encounter.

Carevic left the vehicle and his girlfriend in the 1000 block of the Mirage Drive when he was looking for gas, officials said. Before his return, the police arrested the girlfriend for suspicion of car theft and dragged himself to the car that had been stolen in Arizona.
