The police end of the search for Palestine campaign Vandal behind Balfour vandalism

The Cambridge police ended the hunt for the Vandals, which was responsible for the damage to a painting by Lord Balfour at the University of Cambridge last year after looking for the search, a police spokesman told the British media at the beginning of this week.

A police spokesman for Cambridgeshire said: “A thorough investigation was carried out, but the investigation has now been submitted until new information came to light.”

Behind the incident

While the group Palestine, a group that has become known to damage protest damage to Israel, claimed responsibility for the incident, the police could not identify the responsible parties despite the CCTV film material outside the library and the foundation material of the incident.

In March 2024, an activist hit the painting by Philip Alexius de László from 1914.

In an explanation, the Trinity College said that it “continues to condemn this vandalism act in the strongest words”.

It continued: “The Trinity College will continue to work with the police if further evidence is available so that the perpetrators can be brought to justice.

“The portrait of Lord Balfour by Philip Alexius de László is restored.”
