Flint, Michigan (WNEM) – Since people celebrate St. Patrick's Day throughout the night, the local law enforcement authorities will help to ensure that the vacation is safe.
A spokesman for the Flint Police Department announced TV5 that she increased the number of officials on the street this evening.
“Our focus is on improving visibility and monitoring on signs of impairment. We encourage all drivers to enjoy their celebrations and at the same time to take into account the use of car services or certain drivers for safe transport. “
The Grand Blanc Township police also increased the patrols.
“We receive money from the office of motorway safety planning, and we will do a flat -rate enforcement that goes with this afternoon and early evening and night. We will stop cars and try to impair the drivers from the street, ”said Lt. Todd Gilbert.
Gilbert said that the municipality's officials would appear previously than usual because the holiday is on a Monday of this year.
“We just thought that it was a week in the evening and you know that some people start a little earlier when St. Patrick's Day was on a weekend,” said Gilbert. “We will concentrate on our traffic areas with a high volume. In every area in which we are traveling with many cars, we will stop these cars for traffic violations and you know a little closer. “
The Sheriff's office of the Genesee County said that no task force will bring out this evening, but it still monitors the streets for impaired drivers.
“When you are run over and drunk, go to prison. You will lose your license, but the worst thing that could happen is that you get an accident, hurt yourself or someone else, ”said captain Jason Murphy.
The Triple A's Tow to Go program is active until Tuesday morning. It includes a local ride within a radius of 10 miles for a person who is in a safe place. It is free to use.
