The procedure of the Yogi government: 222 infamous criminals killed; 8,118 injured in police encounters

Uttar Pradesh, once notorious for crimes, unrest and lawlessness, has experienced a remarkable transformation. Today the state in India and global for its robust law and its proper order is recognized, proof of the zero tolerance policy adopted in the past eight years.

A Senior Police Official here on Sunday Disclosed That Since 2017, Around 222 Dreaded Criminals Were Neutralized in Police Encounters, 8,118 Criminals Were Injured in Operations, including Wanted Criminals With Bounties, 79.984 Criminals Were Booked Under the Gangster Act, 930 Offenders Were Chared Under the National Security Act (NSA), and Illegal Assets Worth RS 142 Billion 46 Crore 18 Lakh were confiscated or torn down.

Prashann Kumar, General Director of the police (DGP), said on Sunday that the government successfully pursued 68 identified mafia criminals from 2017 to December 2024, which led to lifelong prison or severe conviction due to 31 Mafias and 74 Co-criminals in 73 cases. In particular, two criminals received the death penalty. Up to 795 cases were registered against 68 identified Mafias and 1,408 employees of their gangs in the state, 617 of whom were arrested.

Apart from that, the arms licenses of 359 criminals were canceled, and measures were taken against 18 criminals under the NSA. A total of 752 criminals were punished under the Gangster Act, while illegal property was confiscated more than 4,076 billion rupees. The Adityanath Yogi government has also worked hard for crimes against women and minors. So far, the culprits have been punished in 27,425 cases, 11,254 cases of the Pocso law and 3,775 cases of dowry death.

Between July 2023 and December 2024, the conviction of the Yogi government led to 51 accusations that were awarded the death penalty.

The state government freed more than 66,000 hectares of land from the illegal occupation by forming a four-stage task force for anti-land mafia mafia. Up to 142 Landmafias were identified and legal steps were taken against them. Since 2017, the Special Task Force (STF) has prevented 653 hideous crimes before they could occur. In the meantime, the ATS has arrested 130 terrorists and 171 Rohingya/Bangladesh criminal and its employees since 2017.

With historical reforms in police work and governance, Uttar Pradesh has turned out to be a national model for law and order. The UP government's zero tolerance policy has dismantled criminal networks and conveyed a deep feeling of security among the citizens, which represents a transformative shift in the security and the government's government.
