The pupils fainted other symptoms. What investigation was determined

Officials in Maine said that 11 students of a local school were brought to nearby hospitals after they felt sick – and although they were initially reported as possible gas leaks, this did not find what a subsequent examination showed.

According to a press release that the Scarborough Police Department had shared, a call from Wentworth School, shortly after 10 a.m., received a call on Thursday, March 6, shortly after 10 a.m. A subsequent explanation from the local fire brigade showed that a school nurse made the call and reported a “possible gas leak”.

“The school was completely evacuated as a precaution, and due to the report that several children were sick, a mass victim (MCI) was declared at 10:19 a.m. by the Scarborough fire brigade,” wrote John Brennan, deputy fire chief John Brennan. ”

However, a “thorough examination” of the school showed “no results of a gas leak or the existence of carbon monoxide inside or outside of school,” said Brennan.

“We turned the building twice from two different firefighters,” said Scarborough fire chief Rich Kindelan during a press conference that took place later in the afternoon. “There were no dangers in the building or in the area of ​​the incident.”

At the press conference, the Suarborough Public Schools, Diane Nadeau, said that at the time of the incident, about 120 students in the third and fourth grade were gathered on a stage in Wentworth's cafeteria on Risers while preparing themselves for an upcoming concert.

Nadeau found that a student passed out during the rehearsal, followed by other students who “take a physical complaints of respiratory tract”.

All students and faculties were temporarily moved to the Scarborough High School, but Wentworth School was later reopened and the students and employees returned.

Kindelan said that on the basis of reports from the scene “There were no physical injuries and the treatment was slightly and as a precaution.”

According to the fire brigade, all 11 students were released by 1:30 p.m.

Brennan said that the school “examines whether the temperature of the stage and the limited ventilation may have contributed to the symptoms of the students”.

“You will take measures to assess whether improved ventilation in the room will run out of breathing concerns and could enable better air flow in the future,” added the fire brigade officer.

Pavithra Brasad, whose daughter is a third grader at Wentworth, told CBS subsidiary WGME that she was in the school library with her child when she heard the news.

“I just want everyone to be safe,” she added.

Wentworth's website said that it had about 700 students in grades 3-5 and more than 100 employees.

When an employee of the Wentworth School was reached by humans, he refused to comment on the incident.
