The reconstruction of Florida Irma program that is checked by the FEDS

For almost a year we have been reporting on questionable expenses, bad work and lack of transparency in a program to help those affected by Hurricane Irma.

Jacksonville, Florida -almost a year after we started studying a Florida program to help hurrican sacrifices repairing or replacing their houses, the US office of Inspector General (OIG) announced on Thursday that they checked the Rebuild Florida program.

The OIG says it has informed Floridacommerce that the audit begins. The state program is financed by a US ministry for housing and urban development with federal dollars. The Oig says that the audit will concentrate on the Hurricane Irma program. Earlier examination reports have included recommendations that help the state of Florida to improve the way they provide services.

According to the OIG website, the state has issued most of its funds for rehabilitation and reconstruction activities in the apartment. However, it has not completed a similar percentage of the expected houses. Our examination target (1) is (1) to assess the overall program of the state and the results of the status of the financing, the number of houses and the costs for support and (2) the job.

We have homeowners who are waiting for years that their houses are ready, and dozens are still waiting as well as questionable expenses for tax money for hotel rooms and bad work. We brought the homeowner's complaints to the general inspector's office in 2024.
