The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs refuses the second round of US Russian talks that are supposed to begin in Saudi Arabia-Novaya Gazeta Europe

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs denied that a second round of the US Russia talks on Tuesday should start in the Saudi Arabian capital Riad, the state news agency TASS reported.

On Tuesday, the German newspaper had reported the time that a second round of the talks in which the first round of negotiations was held on February 18 would pick up. In the meantime, AFP wrote on Monday that the meeting would take place on a lower level than the discussions of last week in Riyadh, in which Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio took part.

Washington did not comment on the reported discussions.

Shortly after the meeting of French President Emmanuel Macron with the US President Donald Trump in Washington, Macron Fox News took place shortly after the meeting of French President Emmanuel Macron, a ceasefire agreement between Moscow and Kyiv could be achieved in the “coming weeks”.

Neither European nor Ukrainian representatives were invited to take part in the first talks, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said last week that he would not recognize the result of a contract without the presence of Ukraine.

If confirmed, a second round of the US Russia talks seems to underline that Trump and Russia are still considering negotiating table.

The spokesman for Kremlin, Dmitry Peskov, did not confirm on Tuesday that the next round of the US Russia negotiations would take place, and asked the journalist to address the Foreign Ministry for further details, according to Tass.
