The school school organizes Austin Spurs for student basketball events

The United Day School recently organized an event with the Austin Spurs, the Minor League subsidiary of the San Antonio Spurs, by connecting a parent who is a lawyer for basketball. Albert Laurel, the school's sports director, announced how the academy spent the day to run PE courses and to teach the students about the development of players, sportiness, intellectual well-being and nutrition.

“The children had a great time and learned so much,” said Laurel. The day began with a 10- to 15-minute lecture on the importance of sleep, healthy eating and mental health, followed by basketball exercises that focus on dribble, shooting and passing.

“The smile on her faces was invaluable,” added Laurel. Each student received a jersey and free tickets for an upcoming game.

This was the first time that the United Day organized the event, but plans to make it an annual tradition. He hopes that other schools will take part in Laredo and emphasize the advantages for the entire community.

“It's not just about United Day. It's about children all over the city, ”said Laurel. “Earlier start of the children with player development gives them more options when they grow.”

The event has highlighted the value of youth sports programs and their effects on growth, teamwork and future success of the students. Laurel is looking forward to continuing the partnership and expanding the opportunities for local students.
