The security day of Lincoln County AG returns after an almost 10-year break

North Platte, Note (Knop) – Between 2021 and 2022 there were more than 21,000 injuries in agricultural production that were required before the operation, as can be seen from a security survey published by the centers for the control and prevention of diseases.

In 2022 alone, workers in agriculture and related fields had one of the highest fatal injury rates for all US industries.

This week, hundreds of students in the North Platte region visited the return of the security day of Lincoln County AG after a 10-year break for the program.

“We received a great reaction from schools. We believe that this is needed in our community, something that children have to hear, and many good memories of fire security and electrical security. Hopefully the children have something out of it and will take it home and teach their parents, ”said Caitlyn Jacobson, an extension teacher at the University of Nebraska's extension.

Jacobson, who has spent most of the past two years to organize the return of the event, said the target group for the day of AG security was between the ages of 7 and 8.

“The second class is the age group that we wanted to aim at because this is an age in which they grow old enough to understand security things like the reputation of 911. You may have younger siblings at home where you may also help. We would like to catch them at an age by looking forward to security, and many presentations were based on interactive activities that would interest second graders, ”said Jacobson.

Jacobson says that presentations were cultivated for those who lived in the Nebraska area.

“As far as the decision of the type of security presentations we had on the AG security day, it had a lot to do with what we had in our region. We had railway security because we obviously have Union Pacific. Tractor security, chemical security, road safety, animal safety, fire protection, first aid, electrical security. Many things relate to the children who live in our community, ”said Jacobson.
