The Tifton fire brigade reacts to car brandies near the rhythm and the Ribs Festival

Tifton, Ga. (Walb) – The Tifton fire brigade reacted to several car brandies to private property near the rhythm and Ribs Festival on March 1st.

The fires, which took place near the 6th and the Tift Avenue N. Tift, were reported at 3:22 p.m., and firefighters arrived only a few minutes later.

According to Bobby Bennett, fire chief of Tifton, the fire began when a vehicle parked in high, dry grass spread to several nearby cars. Due to the tight parking spaces and the dry, windy conditions together with a state-exhibited red flag warning before fire-hazard-the fire quickly spread out, which makes it difficult to extinguish.

Firefighters brought foam to the vehicles to successfully bring out the flames, which took about 40 minutes. The fire also let fuel tanks ignite, which made the situation more difficult. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

While the origin of the fire due to the extent of the damage and the immediate proximity of the car could not be attributed to a certain vehicle, fire agents work to determine the exact cause.

Steve Hyman, chief of police at Tifton, found that parking in public areas can help prevent such incidents instead of private property. He encouraged the residents to use public parking spaces in participating in local events and report an unauthorized use of private property.

Walbs Katelyn Barker will have more about this incident in our later news programs.
