The Turkish police arrest the Mayor of Istanbul during corruption examinations

On Wednesday, the Turkish authorities arrested President Tayyip Erdogan's main competitor of the political rival for corruption and support for a group of terrorists in a so -called main attempt to attempt our next president.

The mayor of Istanbul, Ekrem Imamoglu from the Republican People's Party (CHP), faces two separate investigations, which also includes indictment for the management of a crime organization, bribery and tender.

Imamoglus party was ready within a few days to name his challenger for Erdogan, who has been running Turkey for more than two decades. The two -term mayor is widely considered competitive in every future survey.

In a video that he shared on his X account, Imamoglu said that he would not give up and would continue to be directly given the pressure.

According to a statement by the Istanbul public prosecutor's office, a total of 100 people, including journalists and businessman, are involved in the criminal activities related to certain tenders that were awarded by the community.

PKK orientation

It is said that a second examination Imamoglu and six other accused, the Kurdistan workers' party (PKK), who looked at a terrorist organization from Turkey and its western allies.

The detention was found a day after the annulment of the University of Istanbul Imamoglu from the conclusion of the Imamoglu, which would block him before running in the presidential election. The next vote is set for 2028, but has to come earlier if Erdogan wants to run again.
