The turnout of the Gurugram Municipal remains at 41.8 percent low; Result for March 12th planned

Neu-Delhi: Gurugram residents handed over their ballot papers for the long-awaited city of Gurugram (MCG) on Sunday.

However, the turnout remained with only 41.8% of the voters that made their votes. The choice takes place 27 months after the last chosen McG house in 2022. The election was held to choose the mayors and parishioners from seven municipal companies – Gurugram, Mansar, Faridabad, Hisar, Rohtak, Karnal and Yamunanagar.

Bypolls for the positions of the mayors in Ambala and Sonipat were also held. The vote took place from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

For the first time, the voters in Gurugram voted directly for the election of their mayor, a change introduced in 2018 that replaced the former system in which the council members made the selection. Mansar Municipal Corporation (MCM), founded in 2020, also held his maiden election with a turnout of 66.9%. With over nine Lakh, voters registered in Gurugram and almost a Lakh in Manesar were 905 voting stands, including 120 Inside Housing Societies, an initiative to increase the turnout.
