There is no SSI payment in March, but the next payment date for April has already been set

While millions of Americans rely on the additional security income (SSI) to cover significant expenses, most have to wait until April, as there will be no SSI payment in March. Although this may be seen, this is due to the payment plan of the social security administration (SSA).

Why there is no SSI payment in March

SSI payments are usually paid out on the first of each month, but when the first one falls on a weekend or vacation, the SSA payments spend on the previous business day. This year, March 1st, a Saturday fell, which meant that SSA sent out on February 28th at the beginning of the payments. Technically speaking, the beneficiaries received their payments in February, so that they missed payments in March.

This was done in December 2024 and January of this year. Although the time of payment payments may seem irregular, the beneficiaries are still certain that they receive their full payments, but on a slightly different schedule.

When does the next SSI payment come?

The beneficiaries can expect to receive their next payment on April 1, 2025, so that it will take place on a Tuesday. However, it has fallen to a Sunday in the next few months since June, which means that the payments from May and June fall on a Sunday in May. Therefore, in June it will not be a SSI payment that resembles the March situation.

Understanding the payment plan for paying social security

SSIs are issued in the first month of each month, while other social security benefits such as retirement and disability payments (SSDI) depending on a day on which one was born, as was shown below.

  • Born on the 1st to 10th of the monthly paid on the second Wednesday of the month.
  • Born on 11th to 20th of the month- paid on the third Wednesday.
  • Born on the 21st to 31st of the monthly paid on the fourth Wednesday.

Those who receive both social security and SSI receive their payments on the third of each month.

SSI payment amount for 2025?

The maximum amount that recipients receive if the SSI payment is different depending on the income, life situation and services at the state level. The maximum SSI amounts from SSA for individuals and for couples at 967 USD and 1450 US dollars.

Although there will be no SSI payment in March, the beneficiaries must receive full amounts for every 12 months as planned. The most important thing is to know that a few months could have two payments, while others, like March, may not have any at all.

What to do if your SSI payment is missing

If an expected SSI payment fails, the beneficiaries should;

  • Wait at least three mailing days after the expected payment date.
  • Check your social security account at SSA.GOV to check the payment status.
  • Make sure that personal information is up to date, including bank details and mailing address.
  • Call the SSA under 1-800-772-1213 if the payment is still missing after three working days.

This is how you plan for months without SSI payment

Early planning is the key to the effective management of finances and to achieve this, the beneficiaries should cover part of the double payments for the months without advantages. The beneficiaries should also check the SSA updates regularly in order to stay up to date via payment plans and directive changes to avoid unexpectedly financially tense.

Possible changes in social security in 2025

The beneficiaries of social security will be changed in 2025 after the adoption of the law on social security. This law eliminates the provisions on the elimination of bottleneck elimination (WEP) and the state offset (GPO), which previously reduced the advantages for some pensioners, especially for teachers and public workers.

Since these provisions have been canceled, most beneficiaries receive increased payments for social security from April 2025. The SSA has also confirmed that reduced retroactive payments are issued in the previous months.

Diploma

As already mentioned, the SSI payments for April are exhibited as planned because it will take place on a day of the week. Faved people should expect double payments in May to cover both May and June because 1st June takes place on a weekday.
