“There is no way:” Florida Governor Desantis weighs the future of Tampa Bay Rays'

Tampa Bay, Fla. – During a press conference on Friday, Florida Governor Ron Desantis recently mentioned a development along the golf coast in which the baseball team from Tampa Bay Rays was involved.

At the beginning of this month, the rays withdrew from a planned deal in St. Petersburg for a 1.3 billion dollar -baseball stadium, citing a hurricane and delays that may have increased the costs.

But during his speech, Desantis weighed up with his view of the matter.

“This is one of the fastest growing markets in the country. It is already a massive market. There is no way that it cannot be successful, ”he said. “And (the rays) have made really good baseball decisions over the years, compared to some of these other teams that have bloated salary statements.”

While the rays are expected to conclude their contract with the city with a few more games as soon as their existing baseball stadium is repaired, the future of the team in the Tampa Bay area remains uncertain.

However, Desantis claimed on Friday that he spoke to MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred about the future plans.

“Under no circumstances do they want to leave Florida. You are committed to work for this-because we have the fastest growing condition, ”explained Desantis. “We have all started. It would not be a good look for the Major League baseball if they ended up. “

But during the same speech, Desantis said alleged rumors that the team would be bought up.

“I know that there are people who were interested in buying the team,” said Desantis. “I heard that the team would be sold for years. “Oh governor, it will happen.” And then it never really seems to happen. “

In the meantime, the MLB has published the following explanation on this matter:

“The Major League baseball is still obliged to find a permanent home for the association in the Tampa Bay region for their fans and the local community. Commissioner Manfred understands the disappointment of the St. Petersburg community of (Thursday) announcement, but will continue to work with elected officials, community leaders and Rays officials to secure the future of the club in the Tampa Bay region. “
