This central city has a strong tradition of St. Patrick's Day

Marty organizes her annual parade to St. Patrick's Day on Saturday, March 15, at 12 p.m. It is organized by Chet and Jessica Wessling, the owners of the Pearl Lake Lodge. It is “so nice that you do it twice”, “

The city of Marty is a non -legal community in Maine Prairie Township in Stearns north of Kimball. This time the focus is on Wjon's “Small Town” feature Marty. I spoke to the lifelong Marty resident Roy Loesch. John Decker from the Stearn's History Museum says that Marty got his name at the end of the 1890s when Bishop Martin Marty was on the way to Holy Cross Church to devote the church when he died for natural reasons. The community decided to name the city after the bishop.

The community is located near the intersection of Stearn's County Roads 8 and 48 and near County Road 141. Pearl Lake is less than a mile east of Marty. The company in Marty includes the Pearl Lake Lodge and Project One Construction. Marty had a general store by Bernie Mueller in the 1940s. According to Loesch, business had food and various things, including feed.

Loesch played for Pearl Lake Lakers in Marty for 24 years. He says he is the catcher in these teams. He said they had some really good teams who cut off well in the regional playoffs, but did not make it to the State tournament. According to Loesch, Laker Field is known as a field without a fence. He says that Stearn's County does not make her set up for a fence because it is too close to County Road 48. A prominent pitcher for the Pearl Lake Lakers was Herb libbesmeier, who, according to Loesch, triggered 24 battery against Kimball.

According to Loesch, Pearl Lake has changed a lot over the years. Many years ago he says that the lake had many huts and resorts in which people came from the Twin Cities for the weekend. He says that many of the real estate on the lake are now houses all year round.

Marty was also home to the annual Marty St. Patrick's Day Parade. Some participants are shown above.

According to Loesch, many young residents of Marty visit the Kimball High School as he did, but they have buses from St. Cloud and Rocori that come close to the community.
