Thousands line the streets for the 58th annual Denver St. Patrick's Day Parade

Denver – Downtown Denver was filled with the sound of bagpipes and the distinctive Irish green on Saturday morning when thousands of the 58th annual parade of St. Patrick's Day looked at.

The first parade to St. Patrick's Day went on the way through the streets of downtown Denver in 1889. The celebrations have come and have gone since then, but this iteration of the parade has been strong since 1962.

The parade started on 19th and Wynkoop before he waved a path to Blake. Thousands of people, dogs and even miniature ponies were decorated in their brightest green.

“We celebrate with the biker community,” said Dan Worley, a native of Denver who visited the parade. “It's just nice to see how the community comes together for something like that. It is a nice parade and one of the best events in Colorado.”

While the parade gave a lot of fun, the law enforcement authorities competed to ensure the safety of the participants and drivers. Sherri Mendez Sherri Mendez The Colorado State Patrol is increased in the counties Jefferson and Clear Creek during the entire weekend.

“From Friday, 14th to Sunday, the 16th, we have a Dui team in search of impaired and aggressive drivers,” said Mendez.

The increased implementation aims to combat driving with an impairment, which prevails in public holidays like St. Patrick's Day. According to Mendez, 30% of fatal accidents in Colorado are caused by impairing the driving, and in the past four years the counties of Jefferson and Clear Creek have had 84 deaths and more than 400 serious injuries due to alcohol -related accidents.

In order to contain these figures, CSP encourages the public, suspected of reporting impaired drivers by calling *277 or in emergencies.

“We can't always be anywhere, but the public can help us by calling tips,” said Mendez. “It could save a life.”
