Three liquid goods organized the dance party February 27th

Residents, families and employees enjoyed music, dancing and fun

Three Rivers Estates, 981 W. Broadway, in Farmington, organized a dance party for residents and their families on Thursday afternoon.

Some energetic residents danced to the familiar hits of the 1950s and early 1960s.

The party was requested by Ireta Cockerell

“Mom is 88 years old and she has always been the dancer,” said daughter Darci Moss.

“Yes, I have a good time – just dance … I danced a million miles,” said Cockerell, adding that western dance was her favorite.

Cockerell from Nucla, Colorado, has been in Farmington for about a year and competes from the Aztec region to the family.

“It's nice to be here today – it's really nice,” said her son Clay Cockerell.

Tina Jaime, three Rivers activity director, said it was the first time that they organized a dance party, but today's event was a special request from Cockerell. Jaime said they are trying to give the residents what they are asking for.

She said the activities include board games, bingo, handicrafts, paintings and excursions for lunch and shopping.

Nathalie hoping, Three Rivers Estate's administrator, said the facility had around 80 employees and 101 inhabitants with the capacity of 124.

“I love every one of these residents, it is like having 50 grandmothers and grandpas,” said Jaime.

Disc Jockey Rod McGuire, owner of Veteran Party Rental in Durango, said you recently founded business that contains a mechanical bull.

Virginia Crabbe from Kilgore, Texas, said she has been living in the facility for about six months and has a daughter in Farmington.

“It is difficult to be quiet … we have to wobble,” giggled Crabbe, when the sound of the “The Twist” by Molly Checker filled the dining room.

She said her experience in the facility was great. She occasionally plays the piano and enjoys the excursions, especially the youngest scooter skate that is set up for her.

“I like it. People are so nice and the workers are so friendly and everyone gets along, ”said Crabbe. “I am a happy person, I love to do something.”

As a “Twist and Shout”, more residents of the dance party joined.

“Oh, we have more residents who are dancing,” said Jaime. “I love it.”

The lunch menu was hamburgers, fries and root beer – classic diner -eating, said Jaime.

Carmen Crone said it was a great show. He asked McGuire for a playlist to share with his wife.

Lorretta Carlson from Indiana said she was not ready for dancing, but had a good time. With a son and daughter in Farmington, Carlson said that her grandchildren also bring her a lot of fun.

For them, “God's will” is the meaning of life.

Bonita Hoyle, who has a twin sister named Juanita, left the party but ready to chat.

“I love it, I love it,” she said about life in three rivers. “I feel for people who don't appreciate it.”

Hoyle has a newly discovered friend named Tommy, whom she met in the senior living facility.

“I have a friend,” she said, “he said:” I would like to spoil you. “I don't care if he is lying, I love to hear it.”

Hoyle said Bingo was one of her favorite activities, but deals with the Macula degeneration.

“I'm very supple,” she laughed. “I had six children in seven years … individually. When I got her at school, I became a beautician for 30 years. “

When asked whether her sense of humor kept her running, she said: “Life is short. So why is sad and below?”
