Today is the national pancake day. Here you can find out how you can get free pancakes in CT

Today Mardi Gras is not only known as a fat Tuesday, but it is also the National Pancake Day.

To celebrate the National Pancake Day, on Tuesday, the local restaurant The Place 2 BE and the chain pancakes IHOP will serve free pancakes for a limited time.

From 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4, IHOP Dine-in customers can receive a free stack of buttermilk pancakes in its restaurants nationwide, according to a press release.

For about 20 years, IHOP has been celebrating the national pancake day with the tradition of publishing free short stacks of buttermilk pancakes, the press release says.

On Saturday, IHOP organized an event “20,000 for Pancake Day” in California, where they broke the Guinness World Record for most pancakes in eight hours and, according to an IHOP Instagram Post, served over 25,000 pancakes. For each pancake up to 20,000 during the record attempt, IHOP 1 US dollar donated to the feeding of America to support the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, according to a press release.

“The National Pancake Day is a vacation that our fans have known and loved. Therefore we wanted to make the celebration for our 20th anniversary with 20,000 a Pancake Day,” said Vice President and Brand Creative at Ihop Lenna Yamamichi in the press release.

According to a Facebook post by The Place 2, the entire day on Tuesday is a free short stack of pancakes during the operating hours on Tuesday.

Connecticut's locations include New Haven, West Hartford and Downtown Hartford, all of which are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., and the Franklin Avenue in Hartford, which, according to website 2, is open until 5 p.m.
