Tommy McMahon appointed Branham Highs football coach

San Jose – Branham has a new football coach and it is someone who is closely familiar with the program.

The long -time offensive coordinator and former quarterback Tommy McMahon took over the head job, Branham said. McMahon has trained almost every season with the Bruins since graduation in Branham in 2012.

“It is good to stay at home and take this next step and really try to improve culture and be further here,” said McMahon on Tuesday of the Bay Area News Group. “Get these boys and everyone in our program, the coaches and the boys and treat football as more than one game than really as a brotherhood. It is a culture that you should be proud of, and a platform that you should use to the best of our strength. “

Branham was recently an Ascendant program under the long -time coach Stephen Johnson, who resigned after the team. Johnson took over in the Santa Teresa Division of the Blossom Valley Athletic League in 2018 and navigated the Bruins into the top league, Mt. Hamilton, until last year in 2024.

Branham was third in Mt. Hamilton last year. McMahon, who has been working in the program in the West Valley since the Bruins, continues to be successful.

“We really try to teach our children how we can lead the way in life,” he said. “That's what it's about at the end of the day and uses football as a platform to inspire these children and keep them on the right path to the high school.”

McMahon started as a volunteer in Branham in 2012, worked for DEL Mar in 2013 and returned to Branham as an offensive coordinator in 2014. Since then he has been working in this capacity, except for a two -year break, to end his lessons in the state of San Jose.
