Toyota Hilux World Record on the Southland Farm smashed

An event organized by a Southland Toyota dealer has set up a new world record for the largest number of Hilux -Tues, which are gathered in one place.

On Sunday, March 2, 1440 Hiluxes traveled to the Real Country Farm south of Lake Wakatipu to smash a world record – unofficiallyMind – for a collection of 495 Hilux vehicles that were discontinued in South Africa in 2010.

The invitation went to owners of all Hilux models and vintages to register for the event.

A total of 46 years of Hilux were exhibited. The oldest was a model from 1978 that Riverton Man Kieran Armistead belonged, while the latest of the Hilux -Hybrid 2024 was.

“We defeated the existing record around 945, which is a reflection of love and loyalty that Kiwi has for the Hilux,” says Glen Rutherford, CEO from GWD Toyota.

“People came all the way from the North Island to take part. This is an incredible performance and a proud moment for all Hilux fans in New Zealand.”
