Tractor trailer, which was destroyed by fire in the Newark Service Center – First State Update

Firefighters responded to a tractor-trailer late Friday evening in the I-95 Service Center in Newark. Shortly after 10.40 p.m., units from Aetna and Christiana Fire Company were sent to the scene after reports on a vehicle fire.

On arrival, the crews found a tractor -trailer that was fully in flames and immediately began with the oppression efforts. As firefighters worked on containing the fire, the command before the scene requested additional support from Belvedere's Hazmat 30 and DNREC.

After about an hour, command explained the fire under control. However, the Hazmat teams remained on site to manage any fuel pollution and dangerous material concerns. The cleanup continued until early Saturday morning, with the Hazmat crews clarify the scene shortly before 3 a.m.

The first reports show that the driver of the truck could escape without injury.
