Troy Sportplex compared to

Pike County, Ala. (WSFA) – The Troy Sportplex has been part of many family memories since the 1990s.

However, the emergence of new memories was put on hold, while the Repetition Center of Troy Recreation/Sportplex makes repairs and cleansing of ruins from the heavy storm on Saturday.

“This is home to me and I am a local product,” said youth sports coordinator David Dickey.

Dickey was looking for protection from the storm in the referee building on Saturday.

“It was scary at the beginning,” said Dickey. “I stepped outside. I started to see trees, light sticks and knew that we were hit quite hard.”

Fields most of the Rec Center were hit hardest.

New Turf has just been placed on the Miracle League field. The center planned to celebrate the upgrade.

“We have three points that have disappeared, many of our stands have been damaged or overthrown,” said Dickey.

With over 800 children who are inscribed in this year's baseball and softball programs, Dickey does everything that is necessary to enable their season.

“We will not let us make us the best of a bad situation,” said Dickey.

The current plan is to move all games to the fields that are closest to the REC center and have attracted less damage.

Dickey is waiting for the insurance assessment to work on reopening the sports plex.
